PLAY camp is more than just a "fun summer camp". For the disadvantaged youth we work with in South Africa, it is a life altering experience! Before camp, the kids are mostly looking forward to getting 3 meals a day, something that often doesn’t happen at home. Then they are overjoyed when they get a Tshirt, a pair of tennis shoes and socks, a waterbottle, and a bag to put it all in. They are even MORE excited when they receive their very own Bible that they get to keep!
By the end of camp, what they tell you they love most about camp is a different story. They will tell you how much they have changed because they have newfound confidence and won’t give up on the things they want to accomplish. They will tell you that they never knew God wanted to be their best friend and now they know how deeply loved and valued they are. They will tell you that they now have the courage to speak up about abuse they have experienced and will get counseling to heal. They will tell you that they will never forget PLAY camp.
We need YOU to make all this happen - just 65 cents a day sends a kid to camp! Donate $20 a month and you have covered the costs of sending one child per year to camp. 224 kids come to PLAY camp each year. Right now, only 41 of those kids are sponsored by monthly donors. Our goal for this campaign is to get 183 more monthly sponsors. We can do it!
A one-time donation of $240 also sends a kid to camp, but we hope you will consider making a monthly commitment. PLAY really needs the long-term sustainability that monthly donors provide.
